The defendant, Willie L. Johnese, III, was charged by grand jury indictment with second degree murder. La.R.S. 14:30.1. He pleaded not guilty and, after trial by jury, was found guilty as charged. The defendant filed a motion for post verdict judgment of acquittal; after a hearing, the trial court entered a modified judgment of conviction of the responsive offense of manslaughter. La.
