CORNELIUS, Chief Justice.

John Dickey appeals the denial of his petition for a name change. We affirm.

In his petition, Dickey stated that he had adopted the name of Daniel Ray Erickson in 1979. He conceded that he was convicted in California under the name of John William Dickey for kidnapping in 1980, for attempted burglary in 1985, and for assault in 1986.
