This is an action brought under the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act ("COGSA"), 46 U.S.C.App. § 1300 et seq., by ETS Gustave Brunet S.A., a French corporation engaged in the lace-making business, to recover $533,969 for damage to lace machines transported by ocean carrier defendant Nedlloyd Lijnen B.V.
