DAY, Justice.

Appellant Eugene Lee Standerford was convicted by a jury of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to confinement for life in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. His conviction arises from an alcohol-related collision in which Standerford killed a Fort Worth police officer who had stopped to help a stranded motorist.
