OPINION

DAVIS, Chief Justice.

A jury found James Stone guilty of aggravated robbery and sentenced him to ninety-nine years in prison. Twenty-one days after he was sentenced, Stone filed a motion for a new trial under the wrong cause number. When he realized his mistake, he obtained an order from the trial court "transferring" the motion into the correct cause and, after the court overruled the motion, filed a notice of appeal on the fiftieth day after sentencing...
