HARDBERGER, Justice.

This case revisits the fundamental right of a criminal defendant to confront the witnesses against him. It didn't happen in this case. We reverse and remand.

Martin Espinosa Rodriguez was found guilty, by the jury, of aggravated assault, committed with a deadly weapon. Rodriguez's story was that he wasn't shooting at anyone. He was just shooting into the air: a kind of South Texas ode de joy. No harm intended. The jury didn't buy it. Rather...
