On August 19, 1982, plaintiffs, Douglas Rigler and Tracey Patterson, were injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 167 between Lafayette and Maurice. Plaintiffs assert that the accident was caused by a defective condition in the roadway, namely a three to four inch drop-off between the traveled portion of the highway and the shoulder.
