In February 1991, defendant was convicted of the crime of criminal mischief in the second degree arising out of his harassment of a female victim. After his release on probation, defendant was found guilty of violating the terms thereof due to his continued harassment of the victim, having written and forged her signature on a letter answering a third-party's personal advertisement in the local newspaper.
