Appellant was convicted of four counts of armed rape and several related offenses. All four rapes occurred in the Capitol Hill area of the city, over a period of two months in the spring and early summer of 1991. Each victim was alone in her Capitol Hill apartment when she was raped at knifepoint1 by an intruder and, in three of the four incidents, sodomized as well.
