Alvin Williams was charged by bill of information with distribution of cocaine, a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance. La. R.S. 40:967 A(1). He pled not guilty; the jury returned a responsive verdict of attempted distribution. La.R.S. 40:979 A; 14:27. The trial court sentenced Williams to four years imprisonment at hard labor.
