JOHN R. GIBSON, Circuit Judge.

Carl Turner appeals the district court's1 denial of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus. Turner argues that the district court should have granted his petition because the prosecutor improperly used one of his peremptory challenges to strike an African-American venire member on the basis of race and he received ineffective assistance of trial counsel. We affirm the order of the district court.
