Teresa Pierson was convicted of distributing a controlled substance, a violation of Ala. Code 1975, § 13A-12-211. The trial court sentenced her to 12 years in the state penitentiary, pursuant to § 13A-12-250, which provides for an increased sentence for a drug sale that occurs within a three-mile radius of a school.
