We are called upon in this case to analyze Maryland Code (1991), § 9-736 of the Labor and Employment Article,1 the "reopening" provisions of the Workers' Compensation Act. Under that section, an injured claimant who has received an award of workers' compensation is entitled to request additional compensation if the modification of the award "is applied for within 5 years after the last compensation payment."
