Allen Grossmann, Susan Davidson and Gerald Haney (the underlying plaintiffs) sued Bernard Ellis for legal malpractice. Ellis tendered defense of the suit to Continental Casualty Company, which had issued him professional liability insurance with limits of $100,000 per claim and $300,000 per year. Continental agreed to defend under a reservation of rights, but sued Ellis and the underlying plaintiffs for a judgment...
