Three days after a jury was empaneled for trial on a multiple-count indictment, the defendant, Edwin Gayle Browning, pled guilty to one count of participation in a drug conspiracy, 21 U.S.C. § 846, and one count of receiving, possessing, and disposing of a stolen motor vehicle that had been moved interstate, 18 U.S.C. §§ 2 and 2313(a), in exchange for dismissal of all remaining counts.
