HOWELL, Chief Judge:

These are collection actions. In each case, medical services were rendered to the wife, and the husband did not sign a written guarantee of payment. Additionally, in the Drawdy action, medical services were rendered to the minor child of the Drawdys at birth. Trident Regional Medical Center (Trident) sought to recover the unpaid balances from the husbands and the wives, arguing that the husbands were liable under the common law doctrine of necessaries...
