This case is before the Court in its original jurisdiction. The General Assembly recently voted to increase the number of judges on the Court of Appeals, circuit court, and family court. 1995 S.C. Act No. 145, Part II (1995-96 Appropriations Act). Respondents are three members of the General Assembly who have filed letters of intent to seek election to these new judgeships.
