LEDERBERG, Justice.

The State of Rhode Island has appealed to the Supreme Court the granting of the defendant's pretrial motion to suppress evidence obtained in a "pat-down" search of the defendant. The issue presented is whether, as is consistent with the rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and the constitution of this state, the defendant, Roberto Collodo, who was riding in a vehicle that was legally stopped for a traffic violation...
