Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, defendant, Cinque Lewis, was convicted of murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)(2)) and armed robbery (Ill.Rev. Stat.1985, ch. 38, par. 18-2(a)). Thereafter, the same jury found defendant eligible for the death penalty and, further, that there were no mitigating facts sufficient to preclude death.
