The appellant, Carolyn Woods, was convicted of assault in the second degree, a violation of § 13A-6-21, Code of Alabama 1975, and assault in the first degree, a violation of § 13A-6-20, Code of Alabama 1975. She was sentenced to 10 years in the penitentiary for her conviction for assault in the second degree and to 18 years in the penitentiary for her conviction for assault in the first degree.
