Michael Sockwell was convicted of murder made capital by Ala.Code 1975, § 13A-5-40(a)(7), based on the shooting death of Isaiah Harris. After a sentencing hearing, the jury recommended life imprisonment without the possibility of parole; however, the trial court overrode that recommendation and sentenced Sockwell to death by electrocution.
