This is an appeal by a union official convicted of complicity in the receipt of illegal payments from union employers in violation of the Taft-Hartley Act, 29 U.S.C. § 186(b)(1) and (d)(2). Thomas McGowan was the Manhattan business agent for Local 580 of the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Ironworkers Union ("Local 580").
