Defendant was tried noncapitally at the 26 July 1993 Mixed Session of Superior Court, Alamance County, for first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. On 30 July 1993, a jury returned a verdict finding defendant guilty of first-degree murder and not guilty of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. The trial court imposed a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment for the first-degree murder conviction and dismissed...
