One week before the start of a jury trial, the State informed the defendant, Vernon L. Fink, and the trial court that it would seek to introduce "other acts" evidence. Fink objected in writing and argued, among other things, that the lateness of the request denied him the opportunity to adequately investigate and prepare a defense to the allegation.
