PIERRON, J.:

Defendant, Willard LaGrange, appeals his conviction of possession of marijuana, K.S.A. 65-4127b, and the guidelines sentence computed for that conviction pursuant to K.S.A. 1994 Supp. 21-4724(f). He also appeals the sentence imposed for his conviction of aggravated battery, K.S.A. 21-3414.

On June 4, 1993, police officers were dispatched on a disturbance call. Upon arrival, the officers spoke with defendant and another man who claimed to be "horseplaying...
