John Gregorich, a former research attorney for the Appellate Court of Illinois, Fourth District, brought this action under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 against Carl Lund, the former Presiding Justice of that court. Mr. Gregorich alleged that Justice Lund fired him for engaging in union-organizing activities.
