Jesus Acosta was indicted on two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. 18 U.S.C. § 922(g). A jury convicted Acosta on one count and acquitted on the other, and Acosta was then given a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years' imprisonment under the Armed Career Criminal Act, 18 U.S.C. § 924(e)(1).
