James L. Hatten pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm shipped in interstate commerce, a violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 922(g) and 924(a)(2). He was sentenced to twenty-one months' imprisonment. Hatten reserved the right to appeal the District Court's1 denial of his motion to suppress.
