This case arises from an accident in which the fingers of Brian Moe's right hand were amputated when he reached into the grass chute of a lawnmower manufactured by MTD Products, Inc. He and his parents sued MTD under several theories of recovery,1 alleging that a safety device on the mower was defectively designed and that MTD had failed to warn purchasers of the design problems.
