Chad Benoit was convicted of one count of attempted aggravated escape from the Labette Correctional Conservation Camp (Labette), in violation of K.S.A. 1994 Supp. 21-3301 and K.S.A. 1994 Supp. 21-3810. Before Benoit's conviction, the trial court determined that Officer Qualls, a Labette correctional officer, and Walter Whorten, Labette's administrator, were not required to furnish Benoit with a Miranda...
