In September 1993, a jury found defendant, Jay Hester, guilty of eight counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon (720 ILCS 5/24-1.1 (West 1992)), and in October 1993, the trial court sentenced him to eight concurrent three-year terms in prison.
