YOUNG, Justice:

The State charged appellant James Edward Griego ("Griego") with sixteen counts of sexual assault with a minor under fourteen years of age and five counts of lewdness with a minor. He stood accused of forcing two neighborhood children, John and William M., into various sex acts over a period of time and of fondling Robert C., a third neighborhood child.
