BACKGROUND AND PROCEDURE

Gerald and Sherry Balderson were married on August 20, 1970. Gerald entered active duty in the Navy on May 20, 1969, fifteen (15) months prior to his marriage to Sherry. Gerald left the Navy for a short time in 1973, but re-enlisted for active duty in 1974.
