David Simmons was convicted of two counts of misconduct involving weapons in the first degree, AS 11.61.200(a)(1) (felon in possession), following a jury trial before Superior Court Judge James A. Hanson. Judge Hanson sentenced Simmons to a composite term of ten years. Simmons now appeals his conviction on numerous grounds and contends that his sentence is excessive.
