Following a bench trial, defendant, Terry Starnes, was convicted of murder (Ill.Rev. Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)(3) (now 720 ILCS 5/9-l(a)(3)) (West 1992)), three counts of attempted murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, pars. 8-4, 9-1(a) (now 720 ILCS 5/8-4, 9-1(a)) (West 1992)), and armed robbery (Ill. Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 18-2(a) (now 720 ILCS 5/18-2(a)) (West 1992)). He was sentenced to 60 years' imprisonment...
