This is a child custody case. Sandra Mangus appeals from a magistrate's order awarding legal and physical custody of her son to his biological father. For the reasons stated below, we affirm.

FACTS AND PROCEDURAL BACKGROUND

Gerald Miller and Sandra Mangus met in 1980, and J.B., their son, was born in 1981. They lived together but never entered into a marital relationship and, a couple of years after J.B.'s birth, separated....
