Defendant Christopher Askew was found guilty by a jury of first degree murder (Ill. Rev.Stat.1990, ch. 38, par. 9-1, now codified at 720 ILCS 5/9-1 (West Supp.1994)), and two counts of armed robbery (Ill.Rev.Stat. 1990, ch. 38, par. 18-2, now codified at 720 ILCS 5/18-2 (West 1993)), and was sentenced to natural life and 60 years, respectively...
