This case comes before us on an appeal by the defendant Bobby Ray Lawrence (defendant) from a denial of his motion for bail. The defendant asserts that the trial justice erred in denying his motion by failing to grant bail within the time period specified in G.L. 1956 (1981 Reenactment) § 12-19-9, as amended by P.L. 1982, ch. 215, § 1.
