On August 14, 1990, plaintiff, Harold Morell, filed suit against defendant, City of Breaux Bridge (hereafter "Breaux Bridge"), for injuries he sustained on March 7, 1990, after he lost control of a motorcycle while riding along a sidewalk which parallels Alva Drive in Breaux Bridge. After trial on the merits, the trial court awarded plaintiff $1,052,474.65 in damages, but assessed 70 percent of the fault to him...
