Appellants (collectively the "prison officials") appeal the district court's1 order finding them liable under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 (1988), and awarding inmate Robert A. Cornell $2,163.67 in actual damages and $29,039.00 for attorney's fees. In addition, Cornell has filed a cross-appeal challenging certain aspects of the district court's decision.
