The plaintiff, Rekhi, was employed by Wildwood Industries as vice-president of engineering under a five-year written contract, made in August of 1986, which entitled him to certain benefits if he was fired before the contract expired. He was fired two years after the contract was signed, and he filed a claim for $55,770 with the Illinois Department of Labor under the state's Wage Payment and Collection Act, Ill.Rev.Stat. ch. 48, ¶¶ 39m...
