In these consolidated wrongful death actions, the plaintiffs, Cheryl S. Whatley and Laura Whatley, appeal a trial court judgment granting summary judgment in favor of the defendant, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Department.1 For the following reasons, we reverse the summary judgment and remand for a trial on the merits.
