KEITH, Chief Justice.

On December 19, 1993, appellant, Paul Arthur Wilson, shot and killed Maryann "Mary" Hagford in the Crystal, Minnesota house he and Hagford owned. Within an hour of the shooting, Wilson was arrested in connection with Hagford's death.
