The question presented by this appeal is whether the trial court erred by submitting the doctrine of sudden emergency to the jury.

This action arose out of a motor vehicle collision which occurred on 28 March 1989. The site of the collision was U.S. Highway 29 South, near the East Lee Street exit, within the city limits of Greensboro, North Carolina.
