Defendant, William Jerome Terry, III, was charged by grand jury indictment with aggravated rape (count one) and attempted second degree murder (count two), violations of LSA-R.S. 14:42, LSA-R.S. 14:27 and LSA-R.S. 14:30.1, respectively. Defendant was tried by a jury, which acquitted him of the aggravated rape charge and found him guilty as charged of attempted second degree murder.
