Edward Valves (plaintiff) has operated a manufacturing facility employing approximately 210 persons on South Saunders Street in Raleigh since 1964. The company manufactures specialty valves for the nuclear and fossil fuel power plant industry. On 10 March 1989 all of the assets of plaintiff were sold to BTR-Dunlop, Inc. (BTR).
