Defendant Ecclesiastes Matthews pleaded guilty in the circuit court of Adams County to the offenses of unlawful possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (cocaine) (720 ILCS 570/401(c)(2) (West 1992)) and possession of a firearm without the requisite firearm owner's identification card (430 ILCS 65/2(a) (West 1992)).
