Appellant was charged with criminal homicide, 18 Pa.C.S.A. § 2501, as a result of the death of his nine-month old step-daughter by traumatic asphyxiation. A jury, charged on murder in the third degree and involuntary manslaughter, found appellant guilty of murder in the third degree, pursuant to 18 Pa.C.S.A. § 2502(c).
