The appellant, David L. Schnell, filed a petition in the District Court for the Eighteenth Judicial District in Gallatin County for dissolution of his marriage to the respondent, Twyla L. Schnell. Following a hearing, the District Court entered its decree in which it provided for joint custody of the couple's only child, child support, and division of the marital estate.
