On 22 April 1991 defendant was indicted for first-degree murder and armed robbery of Hazel Colleen Broadway; on 6 January 1992 he was indicted for first-degree rape of Broadway. He was tried on all charges on 9 March 1992. On 23 March 1992 a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder on theories of premeditation and deliberation and felony murder.
